I was intrigued when I found this vintage book at my children’s school book fair: The Art of Drawing Trees. While much has changed since the 1960’s when this was published, the fundamentals of drawing haven’t. This book includes great technical instruction and beautiful examples of hand-rendered trees in the landscape. And at just 50 cents, what a bargain!
I’ve been busy working on a landscape design for a client in SE Portland, so I haven’t had a chance to try any of the exercises in the book, but I’m excited about the prospect of improving my landscape illustration skills. When I set out to become a landscape designer a couple of years ago, I had no idea that the profession would combine so many disciplines that I love. What a treat.
